Happy Halloween!

I tried on my costume last night. Um, it's tight. Seriously. Painted-on-tight. Well, not tight like X-rated tight, but still tighter than I thought it would be...and it's velvet. I guess I didn't think it would be from the picture. It's going to keep me roasted warm today and this girl has a tendency to sweat buckets, when nervous. So, the tight velvet costume, coupled with wearing it to work in the presence of all my coworkers and a bit of nerves at that? I better bring a few empty buckets.

Here's the odd thing, though. I'm really kind of stoked! It fits better than I thought it would. A small ponch in the front, but I did have a baby less than two years ago (and by C-section). The arms look good, the legs look pretty good, and the butt looks much better than expected. These are reasons to celebrate, yes? As I work on this body it appears that it is starting to pay me back by looking better. Who knew?

So, along with this skin-tight outfit comes my long "come hither" black haired wig and silver/black eyelashes. I'm wearing a huge, rhinestone bracelet, ghetto bling rhinestone studs in my ears, glitter dust eyeshadow, my poppin' lip gloss, I painted my nails N.Y.C. White Lights Glitter last night and finally a few short sprays of glitter all over (cat's like shiny things).

I hope I'm a hot kitty (um, not the sweating buckets hot) that doesn't embarrass herself too much. I feel badly that the babe can't wear her costume to school this year. They opted not to do the Halloween parade and hosted the literary night instead, which was fun, don't get me wrong. My youngest and I will be sporting ours momentarily and I'm hoping that it doesn't make the eldest feel bad. She still seems to be really excited about the Halloween party they're having today and the trick or treating she'll be doing tonight. I'm personally glad her dad will be home at a decent hour and is off tomorrow. By the way? I didn't even have to talk to him about my ordeal (read yesterday's post). He attacked me, once we got to bed last night. I just love it when he reads my mind. It's so much easier than hashing things out.

Happy Halloween!

Do I Break Out the Toys?

To begin, this is a TMI post so, if you're not ready for lots of random information about me not getting any, than move on.

Normally, hubby and I are usually pretty frisky for an old, married couple. I'd say three to four times a week on average (that could be a veritable drought for others, but I consider myself pretty fortunate). Earlier this week, I sent my hubby to the heights of heaven (or thereabouts) but I was left hanging. This happens more when he's working those crazy 12 to 14 hour days of his. He just doesn't have the energy to give it back. I understand and usually suck it up like a trooper; however, this past time I was really irritated. We had a mild argument, which ended with him snoring loudly enough to wake the dog (no small feat).

Last night, we finished watching Grindhouse: Planet Terror (you gotta check it out, if you like exploitation films). We were in bed earlier than the night before but hubby was exhausted. He fell asleep almost as soon as his head hit the pillow. Frustration ensues. I've been creaming beneath for two days with no satisfaction.

There are alternatives, do I break out the toys? I usually like to save them for use with him but, seeing as it's going on three days and I'm feeling like a corked-up geyser, drastic measures may need to be taken. I'm sure I'll talk with him about it but I also understand that kind of stress all this work puts on him. Most of the time, he has no problem and can find it within him to deliver anytime. My issue is that the frustration is coming out in other ways (I've been a bit bitchy to everyone, even the kiddlings. Not good).

Watch My House Take Shape and Other Ramblings

This weekend is going to be filled with sawing, pounding and shoving into place. No. It's not "Wild things that can be found in my Bedroom" but the possible completion of the tiling in my basement. Hubby is nearly done and there is only the edging in the great room and the tiling in our office that is left to do. After that, I guess we'll haul everything upstairs in our current living room, downstairs into our new living room. I'm actually excited! It will be nice to have the room upstairs made into a nice sitting room. I didn't plan on putting a t.v. in there, but hubby is adamant that we get the t.v. out of our room again.

When we were first dating, he always told me, "The only thing that I want turned on in the bedroom is you or me." That changed soon after the first child arrived. He got it more so for me, so that I wouldn't have to leave the comfort of our room to nurse, feed, change or whatever to the baby. He really only watches the news in our room. Other than that, he's never really enjoyed watching movies on the 32 inch. He'd much rather stretch out on the couch and watch it on the 52 inch instead. Now, he'll get his way again. I guess I'm okay with taking turns, and the reasoning behind it completely makes sense.

So, he and the new neighbors across the street will be working on the basement this weekend. The neighbor down the street will then complete the electrical work he began a couple of years ago. After all of this is complete, we will call the contractor to begin work on our air conditioner. Should be an interesting next few days.

Um, in other news, I'm really randy...rosey...horny. Seems to happen just before old TOM shows up. I'm sitting in my bed wishing hubby was here. He'll be here this evening, but I'm not sure if I'll still be in the mood. Oh, I love my children but I sometimes miss those days when it was just the two of us and we could do whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted. Now, things seem a bit planned or arranged. Who am I kidding, they are. They have to be! You can't exactly have a nooner or an afternooner on the couch when your six year old is home. Oh, well. I hope to get something in today. Wish me luck (I'll be wishing it back to you).

Oh! The weight loss is going pretty well. I'm getting excited about meeting my next goal: a new outfit or a fetching piece of jewelry. Don't know yet which it will be. Hubby just purchased a slew of new skirts for me for our anniversary, so I'm really not lacking in the clothes arena. Equally, I couldn't begin to find another place to house a new piece of jewelry but you know, there's always room for shoes. (wink, wink)

Things are Better

Hubby and I had a several hour, heart-to-heart last night after I sent him my email of incoherent/coherent thoughts. It began with a call to my cell phone, as I traveled home from work and ended in the best possible way (four hours later...that was some talk!). We have promised to try to communicate better with each other, especially when arguments bring up old stuff that we thought had been squashed.

Random stuff:

  • I've been listening to The Evolution of Robin Thicke, a CD I purchased exactly one week ago today. Being the son of actor/musician parents, he's got all the goods and I'm digging his style. Favorite tracks: "I Need Love", "2 the Sky", "Ask Myself", "Everything that I Can't Have", "Angel", and "Shooter". Really, the whole CD is amazing. Sample some tracks, if you have a moment.

  • It's spring rain-time here in Utah. I like it and it's warm enough not to distract from the springiness that's happening all around (my Quaking Aspens look like they'll have leaves very soon).

  • We went to the IRS page yesterday to see when our refund is coming. Huh, now we know...technology, man. Gotta love it.
  • I wear lipstick more than any other makeup and have found Maybelline Wet Diamond Shine colors look the best on me. I find them sporadically now. Do they even make this line anymore?
  • I've been feeling more and more like my old self again. Still not working out as much as I'd like to, i.e., the weight is not falling off as fast I'd like it to, but my body has changed shape again. That's the best part. Things don't swing, roll or bounce as much. Funny that I notice these things and nobody else, does...including my husband, who has seen every part of me.
  • I wore a simple pink blouse yesterday and received compliments from people I don't even know. I knew pink looked fairly good on me but, wow! Mental note: Gotta buy more pink.

  • Many of the newscasters on our Fox network affiliate wear too much make-up and try too be to "hip" for their own good (transition music from and to commercials could be anything from Kool and the Gang to Gwen Stefani). I know movie companies own many of the news stations now, but come on. What happened to class and style...and Connie Chung, since I'm on the subject?
  • This Farel print is in my bedroom and we have plans to add others. They remind me a bit of the smokey jazz clubs from my childhood, or at least, the glamorized memories I have of them.
  • Why do so many children get lost in the woods, lately? Do their parents not tell them to keep up? Stay with a buddy? I heard that all the time when we were out on field trips or away from home.

  • Sexual slavery is alive and well. How sad.

  • My eldest brought her report card home, yesterday. She did quite well, but is struggling a bit in math. I've put hubby on the case, since that's his specialty. They were drilling on math flash cards, when I got home yesterday (very cute).
  • I'm in the mood for a cappuccino...it sounds pretty good right now.

  • I want to go the balloon festival this year and hope to secure a room before they're all taken. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I Must Have Been Nice in a Previous Life

Oh, lovely pleasures. They've been mine all week this week (accept Tuesday, but we were both tired that night). Last night, it was sweet, tender and passionate. A lot of focus on foreplay, where I was amazed that it could last longer than 10 minutes. Seems like we're usually in such a hurry to get to the final experience, we miss the ride.

This morning when hubby called, he talked about his continuing cough and what he might need to get rid of it.

He said, "Since you had your tongue down my throat, did you notice anything? Are my tonsils swollen? Are there any lumps, bumps or bruises?"

Oh, you're a funny man (I thought).

The series of "love" nights definitely helps to keep the peace in the home. As I've said before, when that's lacking, everything goes to hell at our house. Now, if I could only stop TOM from coming once a month (but I really don't think I'm ready for menopause just yet).

The lovely spring-like temps continue and I've noticed people smiling more and are generally in a better mood. We had our office lunch, yesterday which included BBQ sandwiches (shredded beef BBQ on a sourdough roll/bun, a variety of thick salads and baked beans. I saw fudge for dessert, but I didn't eat any.) People were pretty pleased with the spread and they've now started thinking about those in the office who may be vegetarian. It's taken getting to over 200 people for that to happen but at least now it's happening.

No plans for me this weekend. The Gemagic I ordered for the babe arrived a week and a half ago, but I was so sick, I didn't even tell her or show her how it works. I may set her loose with it and give myself some "me" time, if possible. If not, we may make our rounds to the park.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Two in a Row!

I came home yesterday wearing a dress I hadn't worn in a while (a very bright blue), my hair looking fabulous in an updo and my Chinese Laundry sandal/mules on. My hubby very happily comments, "You look really nice today, honey." Oh, I live for those. He had spent the afternoon cleaning the house and getting things ready so I wouldn't have too much to do (such a nice guy). I think it was also a way to divert my attention from the Babe leaving her Monday folder outside at school. The Monday folder has the week's homework and any information the teacher wishes to communicate to the families. Hubby probably feared that I would go off on the Babe for leaving it, but when he told me, I simply said, "She's six. She's going to do stuff like that."

Just a few days before, she'd lost a new coat recently given to her by a play uncle. I was astonished that she'd lost it (since it was so cold and she needed it), but I told her to look for it, when I dropped her off at school, yesterday. She did find it and brought it home. My guess is
that her focus was on getting the coat home and she neglected to put the folder in her bag as a result. Oh, well. These things happen (lately, this spring-like weather has me in too good a mood to go off).

So, hubby jets off to the gym while I strip down to get my workout in. Sweaty, but invigorated, I showered and got the kids "happy" before starting on dinner (Shake 'n Bake Chicken Tenderloins, Annie's Organic White Shells and Cheddar, and steamed asparagus spears). The girls were ravenous by the time I was done (around 7ish) and ate very well. Hubby was home soon after and ate after I'd put the girls to bed.

The night before lasts tryst brought up the issue of hair. Most times, hubby doesn't care one way or the other but he made a point to say that "everything is easier to get to" when it's not there, so after last night's shower, I eliminated the hair (stay with me, I'm trying not to get too graphic). So, as we're laying on the bed watching uncut episodes of Chappelle's Show and laughing our butts off, he starts reaching over and discovers what I've done. It wasn't long before the t.v. was off and we were at it like jack rabbits again! Spring fever? I'll say. If this warm weather keeps up, I wonder if I'll be able to?

A Simple Question

That's all it was. I asked it of my hubby to simply see what his response would be. I already knew the answer and a simple, "yes" would have sufficed, but it's never that easy with him. The question? "Do you still find me attractive?" With the way my body has expanded and shrunk, stretched to infinity and beyond (thank you very much for that great catch phrase, Buzz Lightyear), I just wondered if he still thought me the cute girl he used to "go with" so many years ago.

We went into this long "thing" about it and I kept interjecting, "It was just a simple question," but that didn't make a difference. He was sweet and kind and delved into his thoughts of unending love. The poet in him burst forth with a frenzy and wouldn't leave. Finally, after being told over and over again about the love and the years and attractiveness being more than just looks, he flipped me over and took me. Nice. Not what I expected, but aren't surprises nice?

I was talking to some people, yesterday, who had recently taken a cruise. They spoke of the constant food, the activities, the sites, the sounds. I was really intrigued (yet again) at the prospect of doing something like this at some time in my life. I mentioned all this to hubby, who is more on board with the idea than he used to be. You see, he can't swim well and has often expressed his Titanic thoughts of being on a cruise ship and having it sink to the bottom, with him clinging to his sheets. He certainly understands that cruise-liners are not what they used to be and that everything is on the "high level" of communication, but it took some time for his entire core to agree that things are safer on boats nowadays. I'd like to do this, but I don't foresee it happening until the kids are older (or at least, the little one is potty-trained). The lady who talked about her cruise described her experience to that of being "treated like a princess." I could go for that.

I'm feeling so much better but I'm not jumping the gun. I won't know what's what until the antibiotics are done and I'm going it alone (drug free). I am hopeful and will remain so. I even plan to workout this evening, if my hubby can watch the kids for a half hour. That's all I need. If he's unavailable, I may just break out the stroller and take my kids for a walk. It's so beautiful today. It's been hard just sitting her in cubieland trying to work.

Super Sassy Strutin'

So, Thursday was crappy and Friday I was trapped at home but surprisingly, the day wasn't too bad. The baby slept most of the day and I got a lot of work done. Then, when hubby came home, we gave each other the apology hug and life started to really improve. He went to workout, then brought dinner home (Chinese, yum!). After dinner, we put the kids to bed and curled up with a movie together. I can't remember what movie it was because it got interrupted with make-up sex (the best kind of sex, sometimes).

Saturday, we slept in till 7 (seriously, that's super late for us) and made our kids breakfast together. I made Kodiak cakes and bacon, while he scrambled the eggs and prepared the place settings. We had a lovely family breakfast together, followed by some cartoon watching and a very long nap (with more make-sex) directly after. At around 3, I prepared for an outing with my mother in formal dress. It was lovely! I haven't been to a formal event in almost two years and I really like those opportunities to get all dolled up. It was just as much fun taking all that stuff off at the end of the night. I'm not used to 3 1/2" heels anymore. I did okay, though.

Sunday, it was just me and the baby at church. The babe and dad stayed home because the babe has been showing flu-like symptoms the entire weekend, poor kid. She's been on all manner of medication for this or that symptom that has appeared. Today, it's coughing meds (yesterday, fever meds). The day before that, sore-throat and stuffy nose meds. I hope she starts feeling better soon because I truly hate to see my kids sickly. What parent does?

The Calm Before the Storm

We had 60 degree weather here, yesterday. Absolutely gorgeous! My coworker wore her espadrilles in celebration of the spring-like day. I wish I'd thought to wear something spring-like...oh, wait. I can't wear any of my spring-like attire, just yet. She looked awfully cute, though. We all enjoyed the day as much as we could, acutely realizing the storm was fast approaching. By the time I got home last night, the clouds had slunk in...dark and looming over the city.

This morning, I awoke to my precious Jump Start not available by my dish service. This told me the snow had arrived and was effectively covering our dish making it impossible for my normal morning shows to get through. I guess dish companies work extra hard to push the local networks through or use different services to keep those channels alive. My local Fox news and weather is currently playing with all the updates of the storm and the commute we'll all be forced to endure. I'm also forced to endure the morning repeats on the news, which is why I typically schedule only an hour or so of news programming.

The weekend will be filled with a lot of the same...snow, snow, snow. I can deal for a while, but I will be ordering up the spring-like weather again very soon. That extra light was encouraging my spring fever and I was totally digging it.

I'll be taking my girls to a local high school for a "free day" of fun and games they've planned for the kids. We got our days mixed up and went out there last Saturday, only to discover a very empty parking lot and lots of locked doors. I hope she enjoys herself and that it really is free (you know how that goes). Other than that, there are no real plans for the weekend. Hubby will be working and I'll have the girls here with me, hanging out at the house. It sounds so boring but perhaps it's what we need. I could take the blouse my sister gave me for Christmas and finally have the ink tag removed (it's been in my trunk the entire time). It's really beautiful...a Kimono style wrap with lots of vibrant reds and blacks, but it's too small just yet. I hope to be able to sport it by late March or early April. She's the only person who bought me clothes for Christmas this year.

Maybe this is the weekend hubby and I can reinvent and be a little adventurous (as adventurous as one can be on a schedule like his). Perhaps I can scheme in my free time today at work.

Time for Experimentation

Hubby and I were talking the other night about how there were rooms in our home that still have yet to be "christened". Then, we talked about all the unusual places we've made love. Sadly, there weren't many. So, we've been talking about being more adventurous in our sexual endeavors. This may prove difficult with two small children but, I'm willing to try if he is.

This made me think about all the ways people enjoy pleasure and the almost surreal levels people will go to, to obtain it in strange and unique ways. When I was about fourteen or fifteen, I started mail ordering items...specifically jewelry from a place called Merlite. They have a website now (or at least, they did), but back then, they mailed a catalog to my home that I would peruse for hours...finally deciding on some fabulous piece of costume jewelry to order.

If you're old enough to remember ordering through the mail, then you must remember those pesky mailing lists companies would add you to just as soon as they saw the traffic of purchases with your address and name. I ended up on all sorts of lists. From catalogs that sold pet supplies to others that sold make-up and clothing. One day, I got a catalog covered in brown paper. My fifteen year old butt was about to be exposed to porn.

And it didn't stop with that one. I had catalogs that sold "equipment" for your home, others that could tailor your wedding in latex and still others that dealt in freak porn. Yikes! My favorite was the men's underwear catalog where all the guys were...well, extremely well equipped. My girlfriends and I got a kick out of that one. God bless the person who thought it a great idea to market underwear with a model getting drenched by a waterfall. Sheer poetry!

Now that I live in the state of prudeness, no such catalogs are sent to my home anymore. With the talk of experimentation, I wondered if such catalogs are still mailed to people or if you just hop on the Internet now and choose your kinky site of choice. I'm honestly not looking, just curious about the state of things in that area now. Do people still swing from their ceilings and have latex weddings? It's fascinating stuff, truly.

I usually checked the mail, but I wonder if my parents ever questioned why I got all that stuff. I can remember that they would put the mail on my bed and there would possibly be a catalog or two in the mix. I was and still am a "good" girl, so I guess they didn't worry about it too much. If the same were to happen to my own daughter, I'm not sure how I'd react. The mediums are different. She wouldn't be exposed by catalog and we have parental control on our computer. I suppose someone could potentially show her something at school someday. Wow. She's already so curious and wanting to question everything. I think I'm free associating more than anything today...just the random stuff on my mind.

What Happened to my Early Spring?

For days we've had temps in the 50's and yesterday, we got as high as 60. Sixty in February! It was so beautiful (but I didn't get to get out and enjoy it like I would have liked to). So, this morning...what do we wake up to? Snow. Buckets and Buckets of snow. Granted, the weather guy says it will taper off by mid morning and we'll get up to 43 but, what happened to my would-be spring weather? Those who happen to be traveling to work or where ever today are not going to enjoy the commute.

Meanwhile, they're also talking on the news about the guy in Australia who just beat the Guinness World Record of head-butting watermelons for the watermelon festival. Man,can we have a little watermelon, please? I'm so over winter, now. Seriously, I've had enough. I'm ready for the sun to return full blast so I can retire the coats and jackets, sweat pants and dark colored everythings. Pastels! Tank tops! Summer dresses! Come out of hiding and be seen. We're waiting for you.

I think I'm more excited about spring this year because for one, I won't be pregnant and two, I won't have to hoist around 24 extra pounds (I'm speaking of Indy, not my unfortunate weight gain)...although I hope to be rid of that, too. Indy is walking pretty well and I imagine, by April, will not need me to carry her for any reason, other than to help her into high chairs and car seats. She's so cute toddling around, learning how to get her bearings. There are so many things I've forgotten about these formative years. Seems like the babe has been grown up forever!

Last but not least, are you feeling generous? Want to help an important cause and gain a sweet reward in the process (besides the wonderful feeling anyone gains from helping others) check out the information here. Hurry! This opportunity only occurs February 20th from 7:00am-10:00am.
